There are three basic energy systems that the body uses to meet the demands of cardiovascular, strength, and endurance activities.
Different tasks require different means of energy production. Specialising in the task-specific system is the key to top athletic performance.
For those interested in developing and maintaining a solid fitness foundation across the spectrum on a year round basis, all energy systems should be developed and mutually supportive of each other.
